Opportunity Costs

I believe opportunity cost is the value of what is given up for an alternative choice.

Yesterday was the perfect example of an opportunity cost. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon and my mom came in to see if I wanted to go to the Franklin Fountain, and ice cream place in Philadelphia. I had a choice: get up and go to the Franklin Fountain or go back to sleep. I chose to go back to sleep. Going to the Franklin Fountain would be the opportunity cost of going back to sleep.

Childcare Bill

I am completely and utterly against this bill and voted that way.  I feel as though the responsibility of getting pregnant is on that female that got pregnant and the male that helped. Only a few girls in each school get pregnant, so why pay taxes towards a daycare for those few girls in your area? I have quite a few friends that have gotten pregnant and they've gone to school, had a job, and taken care of their baby. There are other options and it is on those girls to find those options and act upon them. Teenagers in school in child development classes shouldn't be learning how to take care of babies on actual babies. If they want an education and still have a baby then that's on them to make it work. It's better to not provide daycare in schools because then it makes the teen mothers think more and grow up. It teaches maturity and life lessons. It's ludicrous that this bill was passed and I'm dumbfounded on how people are for this bill because they don't think it's all the girl's fault. It's not all the girl's fault. It the girl's and the guy's fault and they need to figure out how to finish what they started. I believe republicans would have voted the same way as me and one subject doesn't make me a republican.

Mock Congress

This mock congress has been very successful. It has made the class think and brought up issues that are very real in today's life. It makes us, as students, voice our opinions and really think about how we feel about the current issues. We have all made a bill that we feel should be passed, and put it through our committees. Our committees have amended them and passed them then they are presented to the class. We can voice our opinions about the bills and the class can voice their opinions about it. I feel this is a very good interactive idea.

My Bill

My bill has been created to help the healthcare in the poorest countries in the world. It supplies vaccinations and medications for major diseases and sicknesses that are life-threatening. It takes people to the poorest countries in the world and gives them what they need. As a result of my bill, people would be so much more healthier and they would be educated on what diseases exist in the world. Less people would die and in return would be in support of the United States and what we're doing.

6 Year Term President

I completely disagree with having a 6 year term President. I feel that the way it is now should not change. 6 years at once is too much. If people feel that the President is a good enough president then they will re-elect him and he can have an additional  years. That's 8 years of learning and helping his/her country. If the term gets changed to 6 years, it will not be good because if the president isn't doing a good job, that's just a longer term for him/her to screw up. I think there's nothing wrong with sticking with 4 year term.
